Human resource software induces a sense of real commitment in the office environment because every task is tabulated and every result is monitored for effectiveness. Real-time visibility and control help firms build on this in-house business model and make better decisions. Now, one can be relieved of the need to outsource and bring the system closer to home.

Will HR technology supplant the need to outsource HR services? The answer is a resounding yes! This is the reply coming from 59% of the respondents to a survey conducted by Aberdeen Research.

It is evident that outsourcing is an inevitable necessity for most growing enterprises because it helps trim corporate costs, consolidate operations and relieve employees of mundane administrative tasks. In theory, this sets the trend for adopting more effective management practices.

But having said this, the notion of deploying an outsider to do all your critical work is a bit nerve-racking. For starters, managers want to exercise firm control over day-to-day activities of their respective teams. This simply cannot be achieved if an outside party takes charge of your office processes.

Also, there is greater difficulty in controlling operations when you have little clue about how things are progressing. Basically, collaboration and information coherence is lost when office operations are outsourced. By outsourcing critical processes, firms risk revealing important corporate data and compromising security.

Automating administrative tasks not only saves the employee undue time and effort but also establishes an organized mechanism where there is little scope for errors.

This essentially builds a sustainable management system where funds allotted for manual labor will now be made available for more productive investments.

The purpose of HR technology is the same as that of any outsourcing activity, except that the delivery mechanism is in-house. This means that managers are able to visualize change as it happens and make amends accordingly.

This is not possible with outsourcing as one would only know the end result by which time precious hours are lost. And hours lost could account for revenue lost.

According to Aberdeen Group’s research analyst for HCM, Zach Lahey, 87% of businesses consider HR service delivery as an important criterion for employee satisfaction and engagement. 56% of those surveyed have a suitable employee self-service portal deployed in their organizations, where the workforce can manage their own information and benefits.

Human resource software has the advantage of reducing the costs of outsourcing significantly while at the same time establishing an in-house business model for everyone to follow. Control and real-time monitoring of business processes help managers take charge and make proactive decisions.
